Medical considerations

Inform the Swim School Office of any medical considerations that the student may have. This information is important to the instructor to be aware of the safety of yourself and others.

Hygiene

We endorse the NSW Health guidelines - Clean Pools for Healthy Swimming.  To ensure that you and your families enjoy your time swimming at the Centre, please follow these guidelines:

  • Make sure children use the toilet before entering the pool and wear tight-fitting waterproof pants and approved swimming nappies at all times
  • Change nappies regularly – not beside the pool but in the change rooms
  • After changing nappies, dispose of waste in the bins provided and wash hands thoroughly with soap
  • If you have experienced diarrhoea in the past two weeks please do not go in the pool.

Progression

  • The rolling program allows students to progress through the levels at their own pace. Students won’t have to wait until the end of the term to be reviewed, once the criteria is met, the student can move up
  • Each level has a checklist of skills that must be accomplished in order to progress to the next level. It is up to the Swim School Officer to whether all the skills have been achieved to a satisfactory standard
  • Learning to swim is a long and ongoing process and can be, for many, a difficult skill to accomplish. Some students will remain on a plateau, while others progress in leaps and bounds. Breathing coordination is especially difficult to master and may take some time. Please remain patient - our teachers shall do their best to make progress as rapid as possible
  • If you are concerned about your grading please see the Swim School office. A re-evaluation within the term cannot be guaranteed due to the number of assessments, but we will do our best to accommodate you.
