Life cycles of living things

Stage 2 students will explore the lifecycle of and the unique features of living things.

About the excursion

Stage 2 students will explore the lifecycle of living things and the unique features of living things that allow us to classify them.

Activities include

  • Students will examine the features of waterbugs and compare the life cycles of two organisms living in our unique mangrove wetlands.
  • Students will use binoculars to closely observe the diverse species of waterbirds within the park and classify these birds according to observed features.
  • Learn about the incredible life cycle of the short-finned eel, their importance to Aboriginal people and how they developed sustainable eel traps woven out of natural fibre. Learn a traditional Aboriginal weaving technique by weaving your own bracelet.
  • Discover the animals that call the Badu Mangroves home, and learn about the unique life cycle of the Sydney grey mangrove.
