About the excursion
This field trip explores the Park’s special features to help early stage 1 students understand the concept of ‘environment’.
This excursion allows students to actively explore the special features of the park and develop an understanding of the term 'environment'. The park is home to many animals and plants and the students will gain an insight on how to care for the parklands and places that are special to them.
Students will assess the safety features of the park and critique the rules and regulations in regard to their safe play. As part of the excursion, students will look at ways in which the park is promoting recycling. This will include observing management strategies put in place for rubbish, solar-powered pumps and recycled water use.
Students will
- gain firsthand insight into the animals and plants that inhabit the parklands
- learn about caring for these animals and plants, and the parklands
- compare natural and built environments
- understand how and why Sydney Olympic Park recycles its rubbish and water
