Water in the world: Wetlands
Stage 4 students will use a range of fieldwork techniques to gather information about Sydney Olympic Park’s wetlands.

About the excursion
Discover the most ecologically diverse wetlands in Sydney. Stage 4 students will use a range of fieldwork techniques to gather information about Sydney Olympic Park’s wetlands. Students will analyse data to understand how wetlands function and how we can best care for them.
Activities include
- Using scientific equipment to monitor the health of the Badu Mangrove Wetlands
- Using binoculars to conduct a bird survey at the Waterbird Refuge
- Conducting a field sketch of the Waterbird Refuge to ensure the habitat is appropriate and meeting the needs of local and migratory waterbirds
- Using a Geographic Information System to identify and plot the changing spatial distribution of the wetlands at Sydney Olympic Park over time
