Pesticide use notification

Pesticide use at the Park

Pesticides are used at Sydney Olympic Park to control weeds, pests, and diseases.  This helps us to conserve native flora and fauna and ensures public places can continue to be enjoyed by the community.  Pest management programs generally focus on prevention followed by early control of new infestations.  An integrated best-practice approach is applied to ensure pesticides are used only when necessary.

Our Pesticide Use Notification Plan describes how Sydney Olympic Park Authority will notify the community of certain pesticide applications that it makes in outdoor public places at Sydney Olympic Park, thus enabling members of the community to take action to avoid contact with pesticides in these areas if they wish.  This Plan is a requirement of the NSW Pesticides Regulation 2017.

The Plan is available on our website and available for inspection at the head office of the Sydney Olympic Park Authority.

We notify the community of pesticide use via a range of methods in different situations, as detailed in the Plan.  Methods include display of signs at treated areas, email notifications, and via our website.

The forward schedule for programmed pesticide treatments of turf lawns and playing fields is set out below. Refer to the SOPA Pesticide Use Notification Plan for the notification methods used for other types of pesticide treatments.
