Major events

How long does it take to leave the car park?

After major events when everyone wants to leave at once, it can take more than 1 hour to exit car parks. Where possible, plan to park at a car park further from your event to get home quicker. We appreciate your patience.

I forgot to pre-book parking for tonight's event. What now?

The pre-book parking system closes at 11:59 pm the day before an event.

Casual parking is generally available during large events.

When you arrive, please follow the signs for available parking.

You can also catch public transport with some tickets including free bus and/or train travel. Visit Transport for NSW for details.

What if car parks have reached capacity?

If you did not pre-book your parking, we recommend that you park near one of the train stations or bus stops shown on the map and use public transport to enter Sydney Olympic Park.

Increased services are generally arranged by Transport for NSW on event days. For the most up-to-date public transport information visit https://transportnsw.info/ or call 131 500.

What is a major event?

Major events are generally an individual event or a combination of events that attracts over 50,000 people to the Park. Examples can include AFL and NRL Finals, Sydney Royal Easter Show, State of Origin, Bledisloe Cup, Cricket, Soccer and Rugby Internationals, Accor Stadium concerts and events integrated tickets may operate during a major event.

What if I ignore parking signs and time limits?

If you park outside a marked bay or ignore parking signs, you may be fined.

We are a designated Restricted Parking Area.

Can I leave my car overnight and collect it the following day? Does this cost more than one full-day payment?

You can leave your car overnight.

A full day’s parking fee starts from the time you enter the car park. For example, you can enter at 3 pm, Saturday 12 March, and stay until 2.59 pm, Sunday 13 March.

Does P5 run shuttles for all major concerts? How do I get from P5 to the precinct?

Car Park Shuttle provision is determined by the estimated levels of car parking for each event. Shuttles are provided to car parks where we are directing vehicles to park and may not include P5. If it is anticipated that parking in P5 is not required, there will be no shuttles.

All major venues are a 15 minute walk from P5.

Someone offered to sell me their parking – can I guarantee this is a genuine ticket?

No refund or exchange on any ticket except as required by law and as otherwise specified by the seller. Tickets are not transferable, and bar codes will honour only 1 enter and exit - on selling of a ticket could potentially be a scam.

Pre-booking

How far in advance can parking be booked?

Pre-booked parking is available from usually 6 months up until midnight the day before you require a car space. It secures you a car space within your desired Car Park for a 24-hour period. Pre-book parking here.

How do I book an accessible parking spot?

Sydney Olympic Park has over 300 accessible and mobility car parking spaces available.

To guarantee a space, pre-book parking by purchasing a standard space in your preferred car park with appropriate height clearances and use an accessible space on the day of your visit.

Please visit our accessible parking page for more information.

I’m visiting from overseas – can I pre-book parking?

No, you can not book from overseas. Please contact us on parking@sopa.nsw.gov.au for any further information.

Printing tickets

I don’t have a printer – will my phone work to scan?

Yes, when entering the car park bring up the PDF ticket on your smartphone, enlarge the barcode to max and turn on your screen brightness to 100%. Scan the barcode to get an exit ticket at the entry gate.

Why can't I read or print my pre-book parking ticket?

You may need to update your Adobe software by visiting Adobe.

Refunds

Can I get a refund if I’m no longer attending the precinct/concert?

No refund or exchange on any ticket except as required by law and as otherwise specified by the seller.

All parking ticket purchases on the Authority’s website are final and cannot be cancelled once confirmed. Please select tickets carefully as we do not provide refunds where you may change your mind about attending an event, or where you can no longer attend on that date.

If an event for which you have purchased parking is cancelled or rescheduled prior to the advertised gate opening time, we will refund you the full purchase cost of your Eticket(s).

Please note that your Eticket will NOT be valid for the rescheduled date. Please contact us in a timely manner and provide the original ticket(s) and/or proof of purchase and we will refund to you the full purchase cost of your Eticket(s).

I have been charged more than once for parking. How do I get a refund?

Contact our office on 02 9714 7077 or email us at parking@sopa.nsw.gov.au with evidence of the duplicate transaction. After we investigate, we may authorise your bank to refund the disputed transaction.

My event has been cancelled; how do I arrange my pre-book parking refund?

Please reply to your pre-booked parking confirmation email and state in the body of the email that you would like a refund due to [name of event] being cancelled.

Parklands parking - PayStay app

What are the new parking conditions?

Sydney Olympic Park is changing the parking conditions for parkland areas to improve the experience for visitors and to support the ongoing management of the parklands.

This is in response to community feedback that access to parking can be difficult, particularly on weekends and during holidays.

From February 2025, there will be new parking conditions in Bicentennial Park, Blaxland Riverside Park and Parklands Junction (P5b + P5c).

You must register your vehicle plate number to receive the first 2 hours of parking for free, then a parking fee will apply:

$3 per hour fee on weekdays, and
$5 per hour fee on weekends.

The changed parking conditions will initially apply to Bicentennial Park, Blaxland Riverside Park and the parklands junction: P5b (URBNSURF) and P5c (Pump Track and BMX Track). Following the completion of Stage 1, the remaining areas in the parklands will be scheduled to follow soon after.

How will this be implemented?

The parking conditions will be implemented using the PayStay app, along with physical meters and touch and go devices. All payment will be cashless. The app is available on Android and IOS. If you can't use or access the App, a meter in each area will be available for credit card use.

Customers will be required to register their vehicles by entering their number plate and nominating how long they intend to park. Once your vehicle is registered you receive the 2 hour free period. If a stay needs to be extended, you can do this with a few taps on your mobile when using the app, or alternatively, use the meters again.

Can I specify how long I would like to park using PayStay?

The PayStay service is designed to ensure you pay for the amount of time that you actually park, rather than paying for more time. The start and stop model offered by the PayStay app allows you to start your parking time (called a session) when you park your car and then stop your session when you exit the parking facility.

With PayStay’s app, there is no need to guess how long you may need or to go back and extend a parking session. You simply pay for what you use.

(Please note that you are always required to comply with any time-limited or other parking restrictions of the parking facility you are using.)

What are the options for how I can pay for parking?

Use the PayStay app, Touch N GO devices, or meters.

How does the PayStay app work?

PayStay allows for car parking without having to buy a ticket or deposit coins into a meter. Simply set up an account by downloading the PayStay App or register at www.paystay.com.au, tap a Touch N Go virtual meter, or scan a PayStay Guest QR code.

Do I have to be registered to use PayStay?

PayStay app users must be registered. You can register via the PayStay app, available from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store. Alternatively, you can register online at paystay.com.au.

You can also use PayStay without registering by using the PayStay guest feature. Simply scan the QR code on selected parking meters or tap a Touch N Go virtual meter.

You can also register through the PayStay Customer Service on 1300 322 111.

What payment methods does PayStay accept?

You can pay with Apple Pay, Google Pay, Click to Pay including Visa, Mastercard and AMEX with PayStay Guest and Visa, Mastercard and AMEX including Click to Pay with the PayStay app.

What cards will parking meters accept?

The parking meters accept payment using payWave on debit/credit card (Visa and Mastercard only) as well as prepaid cards and smart devices.

What happens if I don’t have a credit or debit card?

The parking meters also accept prepaid cards like those available at Australia Post.

Are there any fees or charges that apply in addition to the parking fees?

If you choose to use reminder services using the PayStay App then this is an additional fee. This fee is currently 34 cents per reminder. A warning will be displayed on the screen where you set your parking duration if reminder services are enabled. You can turn this service off at any time by pressing the bell icon on the same screen.

Can mobility permit holders still park for free?

Yes, mobility parking permit holders continue to receive parking for free and for a time period as is permitted under the Transport NSW rules. Permit holders do not need to register their vehicle plate number. Ensure permit is clearly displayed.

Street parking

Is there street parking?

In addition to our car parks, there are free, time-limited on-street parking spaces available within the Town Centre including along Olympic Boulevard, Murray Rose Avenue, Dawn Fraser Avenue, Figtree Drive, Herb Elliot Avenue, Showground Road, Grand Parade and Parkview Drive.

Pay-and-display street parking is also available at $7 an hour capped at $35 per day along Herb Elliot Avenue, Dawn Fraser Avenue and Showground Road.

Street parking may not always be available during major events due to road closures in place. You can find out more about road closures for a particular date on our interactive map.

Sydney Olympic Park is a restricted parking area so you must only park in marked bays. Parking outside of a marked bay or staying longer than the time permitted puts you at risk of an infringement.

Long-term parking

How can I arrange long-term parking?

Please call 02 9714 7077 for all long-term parking enquiries.
